Our Commitment to Eco-Conscious Packaging
We believe in the principles that there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, and that the vast majority of responsibility for halting and repairing ecological damage lies with corporations and governments, not individuals. As Luciferians, however, we believe in the power of individual will, and our personal and collective stewardship of each other and the natural world of which we are all part.
One of the ways in which we do this is reducing, reusing, and making ecologically responsible choices in our packaging materials. The packaging in your order is almost completely compostable, biodegradable, or recyclable.
As an emerging brand, sometimes optimally responsible solutions take time and money to identify and source, but we are committed to constantly strive for ideal products and packaging.
Our shipping boxes are compostable once tape and labels are removed, and recyclable with tape still attached.
Our flat white media mailers for art and certificates are fully compostable with the label removed, otherwise recyclable.
Our rigid bubble mailers can sometimes be accepted in curbside recycling (check your local rules), or dropped off where bubble wrap and plastic bags are accepted. We are in the process of transitioning to a biodegradable replacement.
The tissue paper which may come with your order is made from FSC certified acid free paper and printed with soy based inks. This means that the paper is sourced from a forest and supply chain that is managed responsibly and sustainably. The acid free paper ensures it won't leave behind any unfriendly chemicals when decomposing.
Our foil-lined kraft paper tea bags are fully recyclable, though our future orders will be a fully compostable heat-sealable replacement.
Our shipping tape is not recylable by itself, but is removed commercially during recycling. We are researching biodegradable options.
Our airbags/shipping pillows are completely reused from various vendors. The green and blue "eco" bags are fully recyclable and biodegradable. The large clear pillows can usually be put in curbside recycling, while smaller ones need to be recycled with paper bags.
The brown butcher paper that is often used as wrapping and padding is 100% recycled material and is fully compostable and recyclable. This is always our first choice.
All of our paper inclusions with orders, including stickers, can be recycled, and anything without a glossy finish is also compostable. We decline glossy finishes when given the choice for this reason.
Our commitment to eco-concsiousness begins with our packaging but doesn't end there. Click here to learn about other ways we leverage our business to contribute to carbon offsetting, forest restoration, and climate projects that help people as well as the biosphere.
